DESIGN TOPICS 1/22

After a long time, on January 27, 2022, it was finally time again. The Faculty of Design once again opened the doors of the exhibition rooms for the Design Topics. At this exhibition students from some of the eleven design modules exhibit their semester works. In regard to the still tense situation, only interns of the faculty were allowed to visit the exhibition. Nevertheless, it was really great that a real, spatial experience could take place at all. It is truly inspiring to see what fellow students and students from other semesters have worked on, the presented works were great! I can't wait to visit the next exhibition!
BACK TO UNIVERSITY

The majority of the winter semester was supposed to take place in presence at the universities again. For me, that meant the first semester really at the university. I applied for a place in the student residence and was lucky to get one. And so it felt like the first real semester of studying. The semester took place in hybrid mode. That means mainly face-to-face teaching, supported by online lectures where there is no other way. I think it's really great that the lecturers at the Faculty of Design are committed to us and are doing everything they can to keep face-to-face teaching going!
A DIGITAL PROFICIENCY TEST

For the summer semester 2021, I applied to the TH Nuremberg for the design major. This application phase was probably all a bit different. The portfolios with work samples were not physically handed in at the university - no - they could be uploaded to an online platform. The second part of the entrance exam then felt almost even stranger. For three weekdays, the students sat a little stressed out in their own rooms in front of their computers and solved a wide variety of creative tasks. Then, we took pictures of them with our smartphones and uploaded them to Moodle. The motivational talk also took place via Zoom. A rather unfamiliar situation, even though application interviews can probably never seem familiar at all. However, the professors of the design faculty made sure that everybody felt comfortable despite the online application with their relaxed and refreshing manner.
