Sticky swamps of worldbuilding

01.11.21

Worldbuilding has always been the most attractive and inspiring topic for a lot of artists and writers, but at the same time worldbuilding is the most famous creativity killer.
Sounds completely insane - wordlbuilding is about breanching out ideas almost infinitely, why would it be of any harm? Infinity. A good creators isn't all about detail and hard work. Sometimes it is about knowing when to stop. What use there is to jump into a universe if you don't know when enough is enough?
Some of the greatest IPs have been designed with efficiency and focus in mind, not span of wings and depth. If you manage, first and foremost, captivate your audience, they themselves will want to answer the questions they might not have an answer to.
Good worlds are well thought through, great worlds invite you to participate.

Perservere and be happy

There will always be people on a way who will beat you down into dirt.
It won't matter how much you will try being as nice as possible to everyone, eventually you will find a person hating your guts based on an inherent part of your personality. Deciding to ignore them hurts, but changing for the sake of pleasing everyone voids you from the inside. Setting up borders for others to not tear down your very personality is as important as being kind.
What use there is in democracy if the ones you tolerate want to establish dictatorship?

Cats, cats

02.15.21

I just found out that apparently my mother adopted two cats??? This was complete surprise to me. Once there was a mention of "tentind to cats", but naturally I did think that she was talking about some other cats. Neighbors's cats, cats on her working place, but not at home, not two of them!
Of course I am very happy to see our family of pets grow: now three rats and one tarantula will have two fuzzy buddies trying to get into their enclosures. Despite all the vases they have already smashed I love these two bastards. We called them Dark and Dio, both are pitch black and very young.

Know one language to know them all

01.02.22

As someone who can talk a couple of languages, i can not stop not noticing the similarities these share with each other, and the history these similarities are a consequence of.
the French would most definitely catch a couple of bastadized words when listening to Russians, since back in the colonial times, speaking French was considered partaking in high society. Same goes for Ukrainians talking Polish, although here you will encounter much more animosity, taking into account how Ukraine was torn between Poland and Russia throughout its entire history.
Yet, these unfortunate conditions now lead to people of completely random descents to sometimes still understand a word or two.
