What is the Digital Futures Master's programme?
Digital Futures is a master’s programme that focuses on the intersection of design and technology, preparing students for careers in digital innovation, interactive media, and computational design.
Do I need to be a designer to apply?
Definitely not. While having an eye for design and style certainly helps, the program is aimed at a broad audience. No matter if you’re a computer scientist, designer, engineer or physics graduate, as long as you’re curious to see how cutting edge tchnology can be employed in the realm of visual design, animation, realtime, games, web or even graphic design, this program is for you.

What do I need to apply?
For non-EU students, the tuition fee is 500 Euros per semester plus a 72 Euro service fee. For EU students 72 Euro service fee per semester.

Application process
When does the application process start?
Applications open on May 2nd. The link to the application portal will be provided on our website. The applications close on the 31.05.2025
What are the admission requirements?
To apply, you need:
• A design bachelor’s degree (minimum 180 ECTS).
• A portfolio showcasing your recent projects.
• A motivational letter explaining your interest in the programme.
• Proof of English language proficiency (B2 level).
• A curriculum vitae
Do you provide guidelines for the portfolio?
No, we do not provide specific portfolio guidelines because we want to see what you are passionate about. The portfolio can include projects in visual design, animation, app or game development, interactive experiences,
AI-based projects, or algorithms you’ve implemented.
What English language certificates do you accept?
We accept the following:
• TOEFL
• IELTS (minimum 5.5)
• UNICERT II
• Cambridge English First (Grade B or C)
• Cambridge English Advanced (Level B2)
• TELC English B2
How do I submit my application?
Applications must be submitted through the university portal. The link will be available on our website at May 2nd. The application opens from 2.–31. May 2025.
What are the components of the test?
All comments will take place online, the aptitude test will contain design elements, an interview and a written exam.
Programme structure and content
What is the programme about?
The program is designed to enable students to use cutting edge technology (such as AI, Generative Design or Physical Interaction) to express themselves in their design projects. No matter if you want to create the next web app, design generative systems or research the depths of AI, you’ll find a home here. The program is structured so that during the first year, students learn and employ advanced technology basics and design research strategy. The thrid semester is spent abroad to allow an international network to form. The fourth semester is there for you to finish your master’s project and thesis.
Is the programme focused on design or technology?
While the programme incorporates design elements, its primary focus
is on the technical aspects of design, including programming, interactive systems, and computational design.
Do I need advanced mathematics skills?
No, only basic knowledge in mathematics is required. The programme covers algorithms and statistics to help you get started with programming.
