Mono no aware – First Blender Animation

Mono no aware (Jap.:物の哀れ) captures the tender sadness you feel when something - or someone - passes, paired with a deep appreciation for the beauty of having experienced it at all. It isn’t raw despair or grief; rather, it’s that quiet moment when the ache softens into acceptance, allowing you to see the beauty in the ending itself.

Based on that concept I wanted to create an animation that portrays exactly that. Adressing death and the overall passing of life and the bittersweetness that remains directly after.

Blender Conference 2025 – Amsterdam, NL

I had the chance to attend the Blender Conference 2025 at the historic Felix Meritis venue in Amsterdam (Sept 17–19), and it was an incredible experience. Over three days, artists, developers, and contributors exchanged ideas across four parallel tracks: live tutorials, studio talks, plug-in development, and community meet-ups.

Highlights for me included next-gen rendering pipelines, Geometry Nodes innovations, and the annual Suzanne Awards celebrating open-source creativity. The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming - a reminder that behind the cutting-edge tech lies a passionate, collaborative community. Recordings are already available at the official Blender YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@BlenderOfficial/videos

Ebb – Next Upcoming Animation

Ebb reflects on the nostalgic memories of times long passed. It’s about a girl who, one day, creates a video cassette of her most cherished memories. Years later, she rediscovers it and re-watches the recordings. The story explores themes of impermanence, gratitude, and the revival of old memories, alongside the delicate balance between remembering and forgetting.
